Every strong industrial name begins with an origin story. For El Battat Holding, that story began in 1926 inside a modest workshop in Damanhour, Egypt. What started as a small family business built on craftsmanship, trust, and hard work later became the foundation of one of Egypt’s long-standing names in industrial engineering, steel fabrication, and infrastructure solutions.

Understanding El Battat Holding’s history helps explain how the brand became more than a company name. It became a legacy shaped across generations, built through practical engineering, protected through responsibility, and carried forward through continuous transformation. Where The El Battat Brand Origin Began The El Battat brand origin goes back to 1926, when Mohamed El Battat established a modest workshop in Damanhour. At the time, Egypt was entering a new phase of economic and industrial development, and the workshop served the needs of a growing agricultural economy.

Its early work included steel bridges, pipelines, gates, and traditional irrigation equipment. From the beginning, the El Battat name became connected to skilled craftsmanship, practical engineering, and reliable industrial work.

What began with steel bridges, pipelines, gates, and irrigation equipment became the foundation of a legacy spanning four generations. Growing With Egypt’s Industrial Development In 1954, the second generation marked a new chapter when Saad El Battat established Engineering Projects Company. This stage came during a period of rapid industrialization and national development in Egypt, allowing the company to grow alongside the country’s changing infrastructure needs.

During this phase, the company introduced welding into its fabrication operations at a time when riveted steel construction was still common. It also expanded into foundry works, irrigation gate development, building construction, steel structures, and irrigation infrastructure.

This step helped transform El Battat from a local workshop into a respected engineering company in Egypt, known for practical solutions, technical development, and determination. Carrying The Legacy Forward By 1987, the third generation inherited more than a business. They inherited a family name, a trusted reputation, and decades of engineering values. Their role was not only to continue operations, but to protect the legacy that had been built over time.

Through changing markets and economic challenges, this generation kept the El Battat name grounded in trust, continuity, and responsibility. This period was essential in preserving the company’s identity while preparing it for a more modern industrial future.

A Modern Engineering Era With METRACO In 2003, METRACO was established by Assem El Battat and Ihab ElHabrouk, transforming decades of experience into a modern engineering and manufacturing company. This marked a major step in the evolution of the El Battat brand and expanded its role across more complex infrastructure and industrial sectors.

METRACO’s work grew across water and wastewater projects, potable water transmission systems, pumping stations, large-diameter pipelines, intake structures, steel bridges, industrial steel structures, roof trusses, and specialized hydraulic steelworks.

Through this chapter, El Battat became increasingly associated with water infrastructure, steel fabrication, hydraulic systems, bridges, pipelines, and complex infrastructure solutions in Egypt. The Fourth Generation Steps In

In 2024, Bassem El Battat and Amr El Battat became Co-CEOs, opening a new chapter for the company. Their vision focuses on preserving the values that shaped El Battat while driving automation, innovation, digital transformation, and locally engineered technologies.

This new direction reflects a clear shift in the company’s journey: from delivering engineered products to creating engineered solutions. It shows how El Battat Holding continues to respect its origin while adapting to the future of industrial engineering. A Milestone Made In Egypt

One of the first milestones of this transformation was INTAKTIV®, an automated weed screen cleaning machine developed to modernize intake operations and reduce manual intervention in critical water infrastructure facilities.

This milestone reflects the company’s wider ambition to develop locally engineered technologies that respond to regional challenges and reduce dependence on imported solutions. It also shows how El Battat Holding is using innovation to build on nearly a century of engineering experience.

A Century Built Across Generations

Today, El Battat Holding brings nearly 100 years of experience into a new era. As the company approaches its centennial milestone in 2026, it stands as a name built across generations and shaped by craftsmanship, trust, innovation, and transformation.

El Battat’s origin is not only the story of a workshop that grew into a holding company. It is the story of a family name that became an industrial name, carried forward through engineering progress, industrial development, and infrastructure solutions in Egypt.
