Intake Weed Screen Systems
Protect water intakes from debris and vegetation—efficiently, reliably, and with minimal environmental impact.
Water intakes require reliable protection against aquatic weeds, floating debris, and solid waste. ELBATTAT Holding provides fixed, floating, and automated intake screening systems designed to protect pumps, improve station efficiency, and reduce operational downtime.
Our experience includes the fabrication and installation of large-scale intake screens, including a weed screen of approximately 20 × 20 meters, among the largest of its kind in Egypt.
INTAKTIV™ Automatic Weed Screen Cleaning System
Automatic weed screen cleaning machines are advanced mechanical systems designed to maintain screen efficiency by removing accumulated weeds and debris from intake screens.
The system uses a hydraulically operated grabber to clean the screen bars with controlled force and precision. PLC-based control enables automatic or semi-automatic operation based on differential water levels, preset time intervals, or operator command.
Engineered for harsh intake environments, the machine supports continuous station operation, reduces manual cleaning requirements, improves pump protection, and helps maintain stable flow conditions. The system can be integrated with dedicated monorail structures, operator platforms, control panels, and collection bins according to site layout.
Weed Screens
Weed screens are robust steel protection systems installed at canal intakes and pumping station inlets to prevent weeds, branches, floating waste, and large debris from entering the system.
Screens are manufactured from high-quality steel bars with clear spacing typically ranging from 50 mm to 100 mm, or according to project requirements. They can be designed as removable panels to support inspection, cleaning, replacement, and long-term maintenance.
Floating Intake Screening Structures
Floating intake screening structures provide self-adjusting protection where water levels vary. The system consists of buoyant steel pipes or floating members secured to guide piles or mooring points, allowing the screen assembly to rise and fall naturally with the water level.
Integrated screen elements create a continuous barrier against floating weeds and debris, protecting the intake while adapting to changing site conditions. Pipe size, screen depth, anchoring method, and structural configuration are engineered according to flow velocity, water level variation, debris load, and intake geometry.
